Monday, April 8 from 5:30 p.m.— 6:30 p.m.—Laguna Beach Library Book Club

Join Laguna Beach Book Group 2nd Monday of each month. We’re going to discuss the book There There: A Novel by Tommy Orange. As we learn the reasons that each person is attending the Big Oakland Powwow—some generous, some fearful, some joyful, some violent—momentum builds toward a shocking yet inevitable conclusion that changes everything. Jacquie Red Feather is newly sober and trying to make it back to the family she left behind in shame. Dene Oxendene is pulling his life back together after his uncle’s death and has come to work at the powwow to honor his uncle’s memory. Opal Viola Victoria Bear Shield has come to watch her nephew Orvil, who has taught himself traditional Indian dance through YouTube videos and will to perform in public for the very first time. There will be glorious communion, and a spectacle of sacred tradition and pageantry. And there will be sacrifice, and heroism, and loss

Saturday, April 13 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.—Laguna Beach Library Banned Books Club

Join this rebel reading group once a month to discuss a book that has been challenged and/or banned. This month we will be discussing House of Spirits by Isabel Allende. One of the most important novels of the twentieth century, The House of the Spirits is an enthralling epic that spans decades and lives, weaving the personal and the political into a universal story of love, magic, and fate.

Wednesday, April 17  from 4:00 p.m.—6:00 p.m.—Movie night

We will be viewing the timeless movie classic, Citizen Kane. Considered by many to be the finest film in cinematic history. Theo will be talking about the film, and then we have a full viewing after the talk.

Saturdays, April 20 & 27 from 10:00 a.m.—11:00 a.m.—Techy Story time

Stories are important. That’s why we combined the classic storytime with technology, introducing Techy Storytime. We are going to use iPad, Apple TV, and occasionally 3D printer to make it fun and educational.

Thursday, April 25 from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. —  B.A.R.K: Read to the Dogs

Kids can read aloud to our therapy dogs, Clark, Jay, and Norbit. They are so sweet and very good listeners. Bow-Wow! Please preregister at the Service Desk or call the library. Drop-ins welcome, too!
